Sligo Education Centre aims to provide support to teachers and the wider education community, and to be an accessible and welcoming place of learning, reflection and social interaction.Welcome to our website, the aim of which is to provide an on-line service for the teachers of Sligo and surrounding areas.Through this website we hope to provide access to the Education Centre's resources and to keep teachers informed of up coming events and courses available to them here in the Sligo Education Centre.

Exploring Local History-Building Capacity Programme
Sligo Education Centre is now seeking an expression of interest from  teachers to train as a tutor in the delivery of History CPD, specifically a Summer Course in July 2017

Tutors are required to:

  • be registered with the Teaching Council

  • have a particular  interest in/ commitment  to History Education

  • commit to working with your local Education Centre in the delivery of A Summer Course  on Exploring Local History

Arts in Education Information Evening more
Exploring Teacher/Artist Partnership as a Model of CPD for Supporting & Enhancing Arts Education is a Department of Education and Skills initiative.

If the idea of an Arts residency in your school interests you or teachers on your staff
who have an interest in the Arts area, I would like to invite you to attend an information evening in
Sligo Education Centre.

Izak9 Workshop for Principals and Teachers more

This workshop will explore the potential benefits that Izak9 can provide for students, teachers and the learning and teaching process in Maths. It will also familiarise principals  & teachers with the cubes and how they can be used to enhance the learning experience for the students.

A Balanced Approach to Literacy Development in the Early Years more

This is a resource that can be used by class teachers working with children from Junior Infants to First Class. It may also be helpful to schools who have identified the need to improve reading standards as part of the school-self-evaluation process.
