Sligo Education Centre - Ionad Oideachais Shligigh
Sligo Education Centre (SEC) - one of 21 such full-time Centres throughout the country - provides support for teachers and others involved in education in Sligo (www.ateci.ie)It was officially opened in its present home by Dr Michael Woods T.D. , 12th February 2001.
The Centre is financed by the Department of Education and Skills (DES) and by contract work undertaken by the Centre, frequently by way of joint publications.The Management Committee is elected annually at the Centre's AGM in March. Leadership and management of the Centre is the responsibility of the Director who is accountable to the Management Committee.
Our Mission Statement:
“Sligo Education Centre promotes partnership in education by providing access to training, development and support for teachers and the wider education community”
The Centre comprises an entrance foyer, a conference room, a number of training rooms including an Information and Communications Technology (ICT) training suite, meeting rooms , ample parking and other facilities. Local teachers and other local groups use the Centre for meetings, presentations and discussions.
Day-to-day management and administration of Sligo Education Centre are the responsibility of the Director and staff.
The Centre is managed by a committee elected annually at the Centre's AGM.
