Title: Virtually Reality, Augmented Reality and Mixed Reality in the Primary Classroom: VR/AR/MRDates: July 4th - 8th (9.30am - 2pm)
This new PDST TiE summer course focuses on the use of Digital Technologies to support teaching, learning and assessment across a wide range of curricular areas.
AR/VR/MR is taking off in education with an increasing number of schools adopting the technology. Augmented Reality (AR) is a technology that lets people superimpose digital content (images, sounds, text) over real-life scenes while Virtual Reality (VR) allows students to experience destinations from across the world without ever having to leave the classroom. A Mixed Reality (MR) experience combines elements of both AR and VR.
Throughout the course teachers will interact and experiment with an array of applications, websites and technologies in the area of AR/VR and MR.They will use these tools in activities that can be adapted and replicated in their own classroom practice. Other key areas of course content to be discussed and explored during the week also include digital citizenship and internet safety, finding and selecting good quality digital content online and exploring the Digital Learning Framework and how a school may go about creating their digital learning plan in this regard.
